Delete your data
There is no account that would need deleting. TalX creates none: no registration, no phone number, no e-mail address, no user profile held by a provider. There simply is no record about you kept anywhere.
Data does arise while you use it, though – on your own device and, if you use it, in your own cloud storage. Here is how to get rid of it.
1 · Individual content in the app

| A message | Long-press the message → delete. Your own messages are removed at the recipient too. |
| A contact with the entire history | Long-press the contact in the chat list → delete contact. Removes the history, attachments and all key material, in shared groups as well. |
| A group | Group info → leave group. As the creator: delete group – then it disappears for all members. |
| Profile picture, status text, status image | Clear or remove them in the profile. The change goes out to your contacts. |
2 · Everything on the device
Section titled “2 · Everything on the device”Android settings → Apps → TalX → Storage → clear data, or uninstall the app.
That irrevocably removes messages, contacts, groups, attachments, transcripts, translations and all cryptographic keys. There is no copy at the provider from which anything could be restored.
3 · The backup
Section titled “3 · The backup”Your backup sits in your own Google account, in the private app folder. Delete it there, in the account settings under the application data. The provider of TalX has no access to it and can neither read nor remove it.
4 · The brokering
Section titled “4 · The brokering”Messages that could not yet be delivered sit there encrypted in the meantime. What you should know about that:
- They are deleted automatically after 7 days at the latest, usually earlier – namely as soon as they are delivered.
- No names, phone numbers or content in the clear are held there, only pseudonymous key identifiers and ciphertext.
- Targeted deletion on request is therefore technically impossible – there is no attribute by which an entry could be assigned to a person. That is exactly the intention behind the design.
Anyone who wants to avoid this intermediate storage as well uses TalX exclusively over the direct connections (Bluetooth, local network, direct internet connection) or runs their own brokering.
