Support the project
TalX is free. There is no advertising, no subscription, no in-app purchase, no analytics and no user account – and therefore no business model built out of your data.
That is a deliberate decision, and it has a price: the project does not carry itself. If you would like to, you can contribute voluntarily.
What the money is for
Section titled “What the money is for”An independent external cryptography audit. By far the largest item – and the most important. It is the one open point the project cannot solve under its own steam: operational blindness cannot be removed by more of your own diligence. As long as this audit is missing, every page of this website carries the sentence that TalX has not been audited. It should disappear from there – but only when it deserves to.
Expanding the server landscape. Today, internet delivery to contacts who happen to be offline runs through a single node. Several locations cost money, month after month.
Publishing on the Play Store. Developer account, review processes, test devices.
Test devices. Android is not a uniform platform. What runs on two phones does not run everywhere – aggressive killing of background services in particular differs considerably between manufacturers.
Time. The most honest item. Every hour spent on debugging, audits and the 91 translations is spare time.
Two ways
Section titled “Two ways”For one-off contributions. No account, no sign-up – pick an amount and you are done. Optionally as recurring support as well.
Go to Ko-fi →LiberapayFor regular contributions. Non-profit and open source itself, settled weekly, cancellable at any time – and particularly frugal with data.
Go to Liberapay →Both platforms are independent services with their own privacy policies. As soon as you open one of the links, their rules apply – TalX learns no more about a payment than the platform in question displays.
What donations do not buy
Section titled “What donations do not buy”No influence on the order of features, no special treatment, no early versions and no promise that a particular undertaking will be carried out. The roadmap describes intentions, not dates.
And certainly not an exception to the principles. There will be no advertising, no analytics and no cloud service that gets to see plaintext – regardless of how much money comes in.
Tax matters
Section titled “Tax matters”TalX is a private project and not a charitable organisation. Contributions are voluntary gifts without consideration; a donation receipt cannot be issued.
